What is a Facebook MCP server?
A Facebook MCP server is a tool server that lets an AI agent work with Facebook through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The agent makes a request, the server interacts with Facebook, and the response is received in chat. Most of the searches for "Facebook MCP" relate to ads and publishing. WoopSocial is a publishing server for Pages. It posts through Meta’s API after you grant authorization with Facebook Login.
Does Facebook have an official MCP server?
Yes, for ads, not for organic posting (as of October 2026). Meta’s Ads MCP manages campaigns, ads and performance. You can check out Meta’s MCP documentation for more.
Meta MCP servers at a glance
Meta has 3 MCP servers. Meta Ads MCP covers ads. Meta Social Technologies MCP (formerly Developer Tools) covers apps, webhooks and API health. WhatsApp Business Tools MCP covers WhatsApp Business. None of these three services supports organic Page posts publishing, which is the gap WoopSocial fills.
| Meta Ads MCP | ||
|---|---|---|
| Job | Campaigns, ad sets, ads, catalogs, ad reporting | Organic Page posts, Reels and Stories |
| Schedules organic posts | No | Yes |
| Covers other platforms | No (Meta only) | 9 platforms |
| Analytics | Ad performance | Organic post & account performance |

What your AI agent can do with Facebook
Once connected, your agent can do eleven things on a Facebook Page.
| What you ask | What happens |
|---|---|
| Text post | Publishes a text-only post (postType: TEXT_ONLY) |
| Post with a link preview | A link in the request shows as a preview card. |
| Image or multi-image post | Publishes one image or several. |
| Video | Publishes a video post (postType: VIDEO) |
| Reel | Publishes a Reel (postType: REEL). |
| Story | Publishes a Page Story (postType: STORY). |
| Tag a location | Attaches a Facebook place to the post |
| Schedule | Queues the post with SCHEDULE_FOR_LATER, converted to UTC. |
| Draft | Holds the post in WoopSocial for you to review. |
| Cross-post to Instagram | Sends a different caption to Instagram with contentOverride. |
| Read performance | Returns views, reactions, comments, shares and clicks for each post. |
How to connect a Facebook MCP server to your agent (3 steps)
- Get your MCP URL. Create a free WoopSocial account (takes about ~70 seconds to set up) and open the API access page. Use the OAuth URL, https://api.woopsocial.com/mcp, for clients that support sign-in, or the API-key version for clients that don’t. The key sits inside that URL, so treat the whole URL like a password.
- Connect your Facebook Page. In WoopSocial, connect a Facebook Page you manage with Facebook Login. Groups and personal profiles aren’t supported.
- Add WoopSocial to your agent. In Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or another MCP client, add “WoopSocial” as a remote MCP server and authorize it. Then ask: “List my social accounts in WoopSocial.” If your Page gets returned, you’re ready to post.
A recorded conversation
This is a recorded session, not a mock-up. The prompt was: “Post this event announcement to our Facebook Page with the ticket link, and schedule a Reel teaser for the day before.”
Facebook MCP prompts to try
Copy any of these prompts into your agent. You can swap in your own content as well.
- “Schedule this week’s three Page posts: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:00.”
- “Post this video as a Reel on Facebook and Instagram.”
- “Share this photo to our Page Story now.”
- “Post this article with its link preview to our Page.”
- “How did our Page posts perform last week: views, reactions and clicks?”
- “Save these as drafts for my client’s Page in the Acme project.”
Facebook requirements and limits
These limits come from Meta, not from WoopSocial. Meta’s Reels publishing docs are worth checking out before posting Reels.
- Reels per Page: up to 30 API-published Reels per Page per 24 hours.
- Reel length: 3 to 90 seconds, in 9:16.
- Pages only: you need a Facebook Page you manage. Groups and personal profiles aren’t supported.
WoopSocial vs Facebook’s API directly
Here’s a comparison of both routes and what to expect:
| Facebook API direct | |
|---|---|
| Meta App Review for pages_manage_posts | Already approved |
| Page tokens that are non-expiring only when derived from a long-lived user token | Tokens handled for you |
| Separate video and Reels upload flows | One post request with a postType |
| Page Insights changes in November 2025, which removed page_impressions | Normalized post analytics & account analytics |
What it doesn’t do
WoopSocial is a publisher, so some Facebook features are out of scope:
- Ads, which are covered by Meta’s Ads MCP
- Groups and personal profiles
- Comments, replies and Messenger
- Polls
