Grok writes the caption, and Grok Imagine makes the image. Grok can't post either. WoopSocial's connector lets Grok publish Instagram posts, Reels, Stories and Trial Reels in plain language, with no Meta App Review.

Grok Doesn't Connect to Instagram
Grok's connector shelf does not have a single Meta platform. The only social connector anywhere on it is X Ads, and that one was made for ad campaigns, not organic posting. Whereas some AI assistants automatically connect to Meta's family of apps - Grok connects to none of them. Instagram, Facebook and Threads are equally absent.
Posting to Instagram yourself is a truly involved process. The API only posts to Business or Creator accounts, never a personal one, so that's the first requirement before you've even written a line of code. The posting itself is not a single call either, but a two-level container flow, you create a media container, have to wait for Instagram to process it, then publish it in a separate call, and the container has to have finished processing for the publish call to succeed.
Advanced Access, which is actually what you need to post to a real account rather than to a test account for few test users, is behind Meta App Review, and in 2026, the reviews take about 20 days per cycle, with a rejection resetting that stopwatch back to zero, so one mistake in the submission can set you back a whole month. And your media has to live on a publicly reachable URL before Instagram will even look at it, with carousel and format limits layered on top, so hosting the file somewhere accessible is its own prerequisite before the API call even happens. Our Instagram API Alternative guide and Meta App Review Rejected guide cover the full picture.
WoopSocial Is Grok's Instagram Connector
WoopSocial has already cleared Meta App Review, so you skip that queue entirely, no ~20-day cycles, no risk of a rejection sending you back to the start.
Trial Reels is the standout capability here, worth leading with: Grok can generate several Reel variations with Grok Imagine, WoopSocial publishes them as Trial Reels, shown to non-followers first, and you graduate whichever one performs, either manually or by letting Instagram graduate it automatically based on how it does. That's a genuinely new workflow for anyone testing creative before committing it to their actual audience, and it pairs directly with Grok's ability to generate multiple versions of the same idea in one go, instead of you picking your favorite and hoping it lands.
Grok creates a number of versions of the Reel with Grok Imagine and releases them as Trial Reels to followers, debuting to non-followers first, and whichever one flops or clicks gets graduated either manually by you, or automatically by Instagram based on how it performs. It's a totally new process for testing creative before you send it out to your actual audience, and it's directly coupled to Grok's ability to create multiple variations of the same idea all at once, rather than you choosing a single version you think will perform well.
One connection includes your standard posts, Reels, Stories, with a custom cover image on one of them. Let's not lie about the one thing that doesn't change - Instagram still needs a Business or Creator account, that's Instagram's rule, not something any connector gets around, no bridge tool makes a personal profile eligible. Your Grok agent never gets your Instagram login either. It only gets your WoopSocial API key, WoopSocial takes care of what really Facebook needs - access, container flow, token refresh - on your behalf.
Connect Grok to Instagram in 3 Steps
Step 1: Get your WoopSocial API key
Free, about 70 seconds. Connect your Instagram Business or Creator account inside the WoopSocial dashboard while you're there.
Step 2: Add WoopSocial in Grok
Go to grok.com/connectors, New Connector, then Custom. Name it WoopSocial, enter the server URL https://api.woopsocial.com/mcp, and complete the authorization prompt Grok shows you.
Step 3: Tell Grok to post
"Generate a square image of this with Grok Imagine, write a caption, and post it to Instagram. Then post the vertical version as a Reel tomorrow at 8am."
If you're using Grok Bot instead, it goes like this - Settings, Plugins, add a custom connector, with the server URL and an authorization header sending your WoopSocial API key instead of the web OAuth flow.
Instagram, in Plain Language
Once it's connected, this is genuinely how you'll talk to it:
- "Post this as a Reel with this cover"
- "Post this to my Story"
- "Make three versions of this Reel and post them as Trial Reels, graduate whichever performs"
- "Schedule this post for Sunday at 6pm"
- "Post the same image to Instagram and Pinterest with different captions"
Each of those maps to a real field the connector sends, postType: REEL and cover, postType: STORY, trialParams.graduationStrategy: SS_PERFORMANCE for the Trial Reels request, not a wishlist of things that sound plausible.
Why WoopSocial
The same connector also gives Grok Facebook, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest, set up once, not per platform, so the same connection that unlocks Trial Reels also covers everywhere else you'd post the same content.
Pricing is flat and predictable: free to start, $19/month for Pro, scaling to $49 for Business and $799 for Max, with API and MCP access included on every tier, free included. WoopSocial maintains its Meta App Review status on your behalf, so keeping that clearance current is its problem to track, not yours.
Grok Already Writes the Caption. Now It Can Publish It.

FAQ
Can Grok post to Instagram?
Not directly. Grok doesn't come with a built-in connector for any Meta platform. The only social connector in the package is X Ads. WoopSocial as a custom connector is what closes the gap.
Do I need an Instagram Business account?
Yes. The API for Instagram is only to be published to a Business/Creator account and never to a personal account, it is Instagram's own requirement, regardless of which tool is in front of it.
Can Grok post Reels and Stories?
Yes, in addition to ordinary posts and Trial Reels, via the same connector, all in the same conversation.
What are Trial Reels?
A method to test a Reel with non-followers before you post it to your actual audience. WoopSocial makes this a real-world experiment so Grok can create some variants with Grok Imagine, post them as Trial Reels, and graduate whichever one performs, manually or automatically.
