Grok connects to your Gmail and Google Drive, and that still doesn't include YouTube. WoopSocial's connector lets Grok upload and schedule YouTube videos and Shorts in plain language, with no OAuth verification and no quota math.

Grok Has Google. It Doesn't Have YouTube.

Grok's built-in connectors include Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive, so it's reasonable to assume YouTube comes along with the rest of your Google account. It actually doesn't. Google account permissions are completely separate from YouTube publishing permissions. And that's right where a lot of people stumble.

Adding YouTube yourself is a genuinely heavier lift than the other Google connectors. youtube.upload is a sensitive OAuth scope, so Google requires brand verification and a video demo before you can post for real - that's a four to six week process and until you clear it you are limited to 100 test users with refresh tokens that expire after a week. Service accounts, the shortcut that works for most other Google APIs, don't work for YouTube at all.

Every channel needs its own OAuth consent and its own stored refresh token, so having more than one channel natively requires managing more than one set of credentials manually. All that also counts against a daily and unit-based limit 10,000 units per project and, once they are used up, any call can silently deplete it and stop uploads from being accepted the rest of the day. Google made this slightly less punishing in December 2025 by reducing the cost of an upload from around 1,600 units down to about 100, so now the limit corresponds to around 100 uploads a day rather than six - this is worth bearing in mind as many guides still cite the pre-November number.

However, the service cap itself isn't going anywhere - it's just somewhat less likely to be the first thing you notice when you run into it. And a production upload isn't a single request either way, it's a three-step resumable protocol - initialize a session, upload in chunks, publish, not a simple POST. Our YouTube API Alternative guide covers the full picture.

WoopSocial Is Grok's YouTube Connector

WoopSocial is already verified as a Google client, so you skip Google's OAuth verification during the process. No brand verification packet, no demo video, no multi-week review holding up a real upload.

The Shorts point matters most, so it's worth leading with: YouTube's own native scheduling, the publishAt parameter, doesn't work for Shorts - WoopSocial's scheduling does. That means Grok can queue a Short for a specific time, something the native API simply can't do, no matter how you build against it.

Also managed by that same connector: title, privacy status, category, tags and the madeForKids COPPA declaration, so the uploads are properly finalized and compliant. And if you operate multiple channels, WoopSocial operates them all behind the same API key. YouTube requires its own separate OAuth to work natively with multiple channels, which is a real burden Woop Social lifts.

Your Grok agent never holds YouTube credentials. It only ever holds your Woop Social API key. WoopSocial takes care of per-channel tokens, runs the resumable upload, and budgets the quota in the background, you never need to think about any of that.

Connect Grok to YouTube in 3 Steps

Step 1: Get your WoopSocial API key

You can sign up for free in about 70 seconds. Connect your YouTube channel inside the WoopSocial dashboard while you're there.

Step 2: Add WoopSocial in Grok

Go to grok.com/connectors, New Connector, then Custom. Name it WoopSocial, enter the server URL https://api.woopsocial.com/mcp, and complete the authorization prompt Grok shows you.

Step 3: Tell Grok to upload

"Upload the Grok Imagine clip as a Short titled ‘short’ and schedule the public version for Friday at 5pm."

If you're using Grok Bot instead, the path is slightly different - Settings, Plugins, add a custom connector, with the server URL and an authorization header carrying your WoopSocial API key rather than the OAuth flow web uses.

YouTube Uploads, in Plain Language

Once it's connected, this is genuinely how you'll talk to it:

  • "Upload this as unlisted and give me the link"
  • "Tag it with these keywords, Education category"
  • "Mark it not made for kids"
  • "Schedule this Short for Friday at 6pm"
  • "Post the same clip to TikTok and Reels too"

All of these map to a real field the connector transmits, privacy: unlisted, tags and category, madeForKids and not the wishlist of features that just seems reasonable. If a request does not match a field your YouTube API supports, Grok will tell you so instead of faking it.

One Clip, Every Short-Form Platform

The same connector also gives Grok TikTok, Instagram and six other platforms via a one-time setup. That means Shorts, TikTok and Reels all come down into one prompt and one queue, not three separate queues.

Pricing is flat and predictable - free to start, $19/month for Pro, scaling to $49 for Business and $799 for Max, with API and MCP access included on every tier, free included. WoopSocial tracks Google's quota and API changes on your behalf, so when Google adjusts requirements, that's its problem to track, not yours.

Grok Already Has the Clip. Now It Can Upload It.

FAQ

Can Grok upload to YouTube?

Not directly. Grok's connectors cover Gmail, Calendar and Drive, but not YouTube. Adding WoopSocial as a custom connector is what closes the gap.

Grok connects to Google, so why not YouTube?

Google account access and YouTube publishing access are separate permission systems. youtube.upload is a sensitive scope with its own verification process, different from the Gmail and Drive scopes that Grok ships with.

Can Grok schedule YouTube Shorts?

Yes, and here is the key point - YouTube's own publishAt parameter doesn't support scheduling Shorts. WoopSocial's scheduling does.

Do I need a Google Cloud project?

No. WoopSocial is already a verified Google client, so you skip Google's OAuth verification process, including the brand verification and demo video requirement, entirely.
