Grok Doesn't Connect to Pinterest

Pinterest isn't on Grok's connector shelf. There is no social connector on the shelf other than X Ads, designed for ad campaigns, and not posting.

Worth being honest about here - Pinterest's v5 API is quite friendly, an open REST API, no partner application required, and a review shorter than Meta and TikTok's. The actual pain points are nominal but still exist, and still matter for an agent workflow in particular. Apps begin in trial mode, only available to your own account until that review clears, so nothing you Pin is visible to anyone else in the meantime.

Every single Pin requires a board ID, not a board name, an actual ID, which means an agent posting on your behalf needs to look one up before every request unless something handles that translation for it, a small thing on paper, but real friction when you're executing more than a handful of requests. Rate limits are nowhere to be found in any documentation, you figure them out the hard way, by hitting an HTTP 429 and working your way from there.

WoopSocial Is Grok's Pinterest Connector

The board point matters most, so it's worth leading with: Tell Grok which board by name, "pin this to my Recipes board," and the connector takes care of the actual ID behind the scenes. That's the clerical step an agent shouldn't be doing before every single post.

Destination link as its own field: Pinterest is a discovery-to-destination service, someone clicks on a Pin and then clicks off to where it leads. When a Pin doesn't have a link to anything, it defeats the whole purpose of sharing it on there. WoopSocial makes the destination link a primary field, not an afterthought to plug in the description.

Scheduling for content planned weeks out: Pinterest content, including seasonal recipes, gift guides, seasonal product Pins - all of it gets scheduled in advance from the actual time they should go live. WoopSocial's native scheduling allows Grok to set up an entire run of Pins now for a specific week later, rather than posting them one at a time as each date arrives.

Your Grok agent doesn't ever keep your Pinterest login. It only ever has your Woop Social API key. WoopSocial manages the trial-mode review, the token refresh, the board ID lookups in the background, none of that is your problem. Just set it up once and forget it.

Connect Grok to Pinterest in 3 Steps

Step 1: Get your WoopSocial API key

Free - takes about 70 seconds to setup. Connect your Pinterest account inside the WoopSocial dashboard while you're there.

Step 2: Add WoopSocial in Grok

Go to grok.com/connectors, New Connector, then Custom. Name it WoopSocial, enter the server URL https://api.woopsocial.com/mcp, and complete the authorization prompt Grok shows you.

Step 3: Tell Grok to post

"Generate a vertical image for our autumn soup recipe, pin it to the Recipes board with a title, link it to the blog post, and schedule it for Sunday morning."

There's no board ID for you to fetch on your own, no undocumented rate limit to learn the hard way, no code. If you're using Grok Bot, the way to go is slightly different. It is Settings, Plugins, add a custom connector, with the server URL and an authorization header carrying your WoopSocial API key rather than the OAuth flow web uses.

Pinterest, in Plain Language

Once it's connected, this is genuinely how you'll talk to it:

  • "Pin this to my Recipes board"
  • "Link it to this product page"
  • "Title it '…'"
  • "Make five variations and schedule one a day this week"
  • "Post the same image to Instagram with a different caption"

Each of those maps to a real field the connector sends, pinterestBoardId resolved from a board name, link for the destination, title, not a wishlist of things that sound nice to hear.

Why WoopSocial

That same connector also gives Grok Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Threads and Bluesky - all one setup. Pinterest is the most image-led platform in this series, and Grok Imagine is truly proficient at creating that style of image, the same square or vertical image can be sent to Pinterest and Instagram in the same request with different captions for each.

Pricing is flat and predictable: free to start, $19/month for Pro, scaling to $49 for Business and $799 for Max, with API and MCP access included on every tier, free included. Woop Social takes care of the integration, board lookups and the trial-mode review, so you don't have to worry about it.

Grok Imagine Makes the Pin. Now Grok Can Post It.

FAQ

Can Grok post to Pinterest?

Not natively. Pinterest is not part of Grok's connector shelf at the moment, and the only social connector is X Ads. Adding WoopSocial as a custom connector is what closes the gap.

Does Grok need a board to pin?

Yes, all Pins require a board ID, that's Pinterest's own requirement. WoopSocial automatically resolves the Board ID from a name you provide to Grok, so you'll never have to look it up or provide it yourself.

Can Grok schedule Pins?

Yes. Scheduling in WoopSocial is native, so Grok can load up a set of Pins to be scheduled on a date later in the future for seasonal content.

Can I pin Grok Imagine images?

Yes. Of all of the platforms discussed, Pinterest is the most image-led and Grok Imagine's output delivers natural Pin content, creating the image and posting it into a board within the same thread.
