Building and nurturing relationships with other individuals, groups, or organizations online is what social media networking is all about. The aim is to create connections that are meaningful and can lead to all sorts of opportunities—personal, professional, and social. It’s a way of using “like” and “comment” buttons, “share” prompts, the direct messaging feature, and various social media community participations to, in effect, reach out and in, to touch somebody with a net of words, to engender a kind of trust and, in some cases, love that is both durable and creepy in a good way.

We’re not after a whole lot of phony, face-saving, “Hi, how are you? ” exchanges here. I’m talking about realness.

The kind must be with and for valuing exchanges. In that, you are valuing me and my time. After that, we’re back to the future and the good ole days.
