Influencer Contract
A formal, legally binding agreement between a social media influencer and a brand, company, or organization, called an Influencer Contract, outlines the terms, expectations, and obligations of a partnership or collaboration. The goal of said partnership is to promote products, services, or campaigns on the influencer’s platforms, in this case social media, which could mean anything from Instagram to YouTube, TikTok to Twitter. As a baseline, these documents serve to protect the interests of both parties by clearly defining critical aspects of the partnership’s performance. These critical aspects include the type and number of 'deliverables' the influencer will produce, which could mean anything from posts to videos, stories, or live streams; the timeline for delivering said content; the overall tone and messaging during the collaboration; intellectual property rights to the content created; and any disclaimers necessary to meet the regulations of bodies like the FTC. Performance metrics aren’t too common, but when they do appear, they’re usually about engagement or conversion rates. The static document called the Influencer Contract is intended to eliminate ambiguity and provide a clearer roadmap for partners traveling on the equally fast and wild roads of social media marketing.
