In social media, the term 'high engagement' refers to the many ways people can actually interact with social media accounts or posts. It is measured mostly using the metrics of How much do people like this? and How much do people share, comment on, or even click through this content?

When it comes to acting on content, the social media world has more performance indicators than what could be suggested in any one post. What seems to work, at least some of the time, is when a business, influencer or social media manager posts something that can be perceived as 'high-quality,' aka something that 'hits' with the audience. Indeed, there seem to be more ways not to hit with an audience than there used to be.
