Sharing files on social media can be for many reasons. People use it for personal and professional interactions, much like they do with other forms of social media. Some of the file-sharing reason ways people use social media include:

The internet is usually the fastest way to disseminate information, so people have taken to the internet to ensure their ideas spread as quick and as far as possible. And now, as with most things, there is an internet format that is the best for spreading information in the least amount of time.

Although users can connect worldwide and use file-sharing to create better engagement in their communities, the act of sharing files on social media poses some legitimate concerns. This is especially true when it comes to the safeguarding of private data and the potential infringement of copyright laws. There are also worries about the sizes of files that can be shared, not to mention what might happen if the content of a file is shared in a way that violates a person's right to privacy. With all these concerns in mind, file-sharing platforms have to be very careful indeed when it comes to allowing certain content to be shared and when to moderate that sharing.
